- Thrones – Represent the authority and power of God. They are shown to have a regal form.
- Dominions – These are the Leadership Angels in administrative roles, who are overseers of the other angels.
- Virtues – These are the angels who contain the power to perform miracles and blessings in our lives. They are usually depicted to have a powerful and more radiant presence.
- Powers – These angels have power over evil forces. They have a more protective and commanding presence.
- Principalities – These are angels who have dominion over specific places, things or beings. Their duties are to be local and protective.
- Archangels – These are high ranking angels, serving as leaders and messengers with notable examples like Gabriel, Michael, and Raphael. There are many more but these three are well known.

Angels are Real… My Personal Experience with an Angel…
My personal experience with an angel began during one of the most emotional and life-changing moments of my life. It was the later part of April when I was pregnant with my daughter in my ninth month. I was married for 2 years and by this time I had turned 30 years old. My husband and I were living in Virginia, in the house that we had built right before we got married. At the time of my pregnancy, we had temporarily moved to upstate New York with my in-laws.
We had decided it was best to be around family for my delivery. So we stayed with them until the baby was born. As the time drew nearer, I began to become even more nervous and afraid of giving birth than I already was. I had already known that it would be painful from all the stories I had previously heard. However, it is something we as women have to bear, that is if we want children the natural way.
The Confirmation of My Belief That Angels Are Real Started With My Blessing, My Little Bundle of Joy From the LORD
I made sure from the beginning to visit the doctor and take my prenatal vitamins. Very concerned with having a healthy baby, I made sure to eat healthy. Eating my meats, fruits and vegetables and drinking milk and a gallon of water daily. I tried to exercise as best I could. This was my first pregnancy and I just wanted to make sure I did everything right to ensure a healthy baby. My husband and I were very excited as well as our parents and siblings.
This would be the first grandchild for my in-laws. They were hoping for a boy to carry on the name. I was so big that the doctor initially thought I would be having twins. My pregnancy was a good one. I had morning sickness just as most pregnant women do. It was for the first three months, what the doctors consider the first trimester. I was so glad when that ended. Even though I was 29 years old, I was relieved to know that I did not need to have my amniotic fluid tested. That was done if you were over 35.
So I was glad to deem that out, Not necessary. Even though I carried large, I did not waddle like a duck when I walked. Although my family teased me and said that I would, my husband confirmed to them that I did not. For the most part of my pregnancy I felt good and healthy. However, as my belly grew I became more uncomfortable. Especially when she decided she wanted to try out for the football team and practice her kicks. It also became more difficult finding a comfortable position to sleep. One night while laying in bed, I could actually feel her hand on my side.
GOD’s Angels Were Encamped Around Me During My False Labor Pains
As the days drew closer I began to experience what I thought were early contractions. When I called the doctor to explain what was going on, that’s when she told me about the Braxton Hicks contractions. She said they were normal and I had nothing to worry about. But let me tell you… they sure did hurt. My baby would tighten up like a ball inside me so tight, pulling over to one side or the other.
It would last for a few minutes then she would relax. I can use the word she now, but then I didn’t know which gender the baby would be. And my husband and I had decided we did not want to know the gender until birth. We were just concerned about having a healthy baby. But I knew in my heart of hearts, it was a girl. GOD had given me a dream… And in this dream I could see my little girl at the age of 3 or 4 laughing and playing with me. It was so clear, I could even see her beautiful face and knew what she would look like.
The Beginning of My Contractions
Then here was the day. My contractions were 10 minutes apart. My husband called the doctor. She instructed me not to eat or drink anything and told him to call back when they were 5 minutes apart. OK, so we waited until they were 5 minutes apart. And Now, even though this was April… you must know that upstate New York had snow even when the southern part of New York did not.
So, needless to say, it was snowing, and that did not look good for me. Especially with the hospital being 24 miles away. My husband called my doctor back when they were 5 minutes apart so she told him to bring me into the hospital. I gathered my things together and we, all of us… including my mother and father in-law. We all got into the car and rode to the hospital. All the way there, I practiced my breathing the way they had taught me in Lamaze class.
To the Hospital and Then Back Home
As we entered the hospital and went straight to the admin desk, they put me in a wheelchair. Then they sent us straight upstairs to the labor and delivery ward. There they put me in a bed and hooked me up with an IV and took all my vitals. Then they checked my dilation. This part I hated… that’s when they stick their fingers, but it feels like their whole hand, inside you to see how wide your opening is and if the baby is facing the proper way for delivery.
Well, they said I was not dilated enough and was sending me back home. At this point my sister in-law and her husband came to my bed. They thought it was time for the baby to come. But to their surprise it was false labor. So we all went back home.
Back to the Hospital Again
Then no sooner than when we got back home, my contractions started again. We waited until they got to 5 minutes again and called the doctor. Then they spread at longer intervals. After they began to come closer again. We called again, and she said to come in. So, we all got into the vehicle again and drove to the hospital. Now at this time, the baby still had not dropped yet and I am getting more nervous as time went by.
When we arrived at the hospital the second time they took me up to the labor and delivery ward again. They did their routine, took my vitals and checked my dilation. This time I was 8 centimeters dilated. Before they could say anything my husband spoke up and said: “You are going to admit her now! I am not taking her back home in this weather only to not be able to get back here when it’s time. So they didn’t argue with him. They admitted me.
This Is It… I am Finally Being Admitted
The time is here… Now I am really nervous! Not only am I nervous, but I am also terrified. My body started shaking uncontrollably with fear. The only thing I could think about was excruciating pain and ripping like crazy. I am in the labor room in labor and delivery. And I am shaking like a leaf.
My husband is with me along with my in-laws. My Mom was not there because she lived about two hours away, but with traffic it would be a good three hours. On top of that she was still working every day. So I did not want to have her come all the way up there for a false alarm only to have to come back again. And mom took her work seriously.
She hardly ever took any sick days. I don’t even remember her taking a vacation every year. Therefore, I did not want to put her in a compromising position. Although I really did want her to be present during my delivery. But GOD had it all under control, even if I was nervous and scared.
Angels Are Real and Were in the Background for the Preparation of the New Birth Delivery
In order to have the baby drop and get into position, they had me walk all over the hospital. Then I had to take cold showers. Meanwhile, I still can’t eat anything as per doctor’s orders. At this point I am nearly dehydrated. So, they kept giving me shaved ice to chew on to keep me hydrated. But I was hungry.
After walking and taking showers they had me get back in bed to rest. This routine they had me to repeat a few times. The baby finally dropped into position. My contractions were still varying… coming closer then spreading further apart.
My contractions were varying because my baby was facing up instead of down. This caused more pain in my back because the back of her head was pressed against my spinal cord. The doctors had gathered together in consultation about my condition. After a while they called my husband out of the room. They were talking to my husband about performing a C-Section. He asked me if I would be willing to have a C-Section.
I told him no, I want to have a natural childbirth. They seemed to be very concerned about the delivery. This made me even more nervous. I certainly did not want a C-Section. This to me was a very serious operation and anything could go wrong. But they respected my wishes.
There was a point when my doctor said she was going to the chapel. I told my husband she is going there to pray for me. He asked me how do you know. I replied, I just know that she is going there to pray for me. The nurse told me to just try to relax and go to sleep.
Have You Ever Been Touched by an Angel? My Personal Experience With an Angel
What happened next during my personal experience with an angel is something I will never forget for the rest of my life. I remember while I was lying in bed a nurse came in and she started talking to me and my husband. She introduced herself; If I remember right her name was Charlotte or Charlene. There was something different about her, I could feel it.
There was something very calming and soothing in her voice and her demeanor. Then she said she was going to massage me to get me to calm down and relax. She asked if it was OK? I responded yes. As she started to massage my head she started talking in a very calming and soothing voice. As my contractions started again she massaged my head then my arms and she moved downward on my body simultaneously telling me to stay calm and just go with the flow of the wave.
Listen to my voice and just follow the wave and go with the flow. She kept repeating that. And I remember I started to feel very calm. It felt as if a soothing wave of calmness and peace had come over my whole body and after a while I began to fall asleep. I can remember dreaming and feeling happy and calm. Angels are real. To this day, I believe this was one of those real life encounters with guardian angels that people often speak about, but rarely experience so personally.
It Is Time… The Baby is Coming
After a while I started to wake to this feeling of pushing. But I wasn’t pushing deliberately. My body was naturally pushing. This is what I told the nurse. Suddenly the doctors and nurses came back in. They had to break my water because it wouldn’t break naturally. At this point my contractions were getting closer and closer. They had to call the Anesthesiologist to come back for me. When he arrived, my contractions were one minute apart.
They told me I had to ball up like a cat in order for him to inject me. He had to be very precise, because one wrong move could mean paralysis or worse. And this had to be done between the one minute contractions. They had given me an intrathecal rather than an epidural. Now, let me tell you, this needle they used… Whew!!!… It is a good thing I did not see it. I would have surely fainted at the sight of it. That thing was a foot long and BIG! You would think this was a needle they used for horses.
My husband didn’t tell me about that until months later on after everything was over. Then it was on. They had me twisting and moving my leg in different positions to get the baby to turn. And they were telling me to push each time I switched positions. She started moving through the birth canal to make her debut. No matter what they had me do, she did not turn. The doctor had to use forceps to guide her out and she turned right at the very last minute before she came out.
It Is A Girl… My Beautiful, Precious Little Baby Girl
As she was coming out I could feel this severe burning sensation. It feels like it does when you pour alcohol on an open wound. It was the burning from all the ripping. Although I was under anesthesia, I could still feel the burning. Then suddenly the doctor had put the baby on my stomach and had my husband cut the umbilical cord.
After that they took my baby and checked her to make sure she was OK. Then they wrapped her and gave her to my mother in-law. She asked my husband if he wanted to hold her. He said “I will hold her once I know my wife is alright. Right now, she is what’s most important.” The doctor was checking my amniotic sac to be sure all of it was delivered as well. At that point I was losing a lot of blood and feeling very weak. It was more than a pint. My real life encounters with guardian angels have proven to me that GOD is true to His word and they are with me all the time.
She didn’t quite know how she was going to stop the bleeding. I can imagine she was internally praying. Then she told everyone to get out. “I need this space to be sterile,” she said. This is when I closed my eyes and began talking to Jesus; Concentrating all my thoughts on Him and only Him.
GOD’s Angels Are Real and I Am Blessed to Still Be Alive…
The doctor was having a rough time stitching me. Every time she would try to stitch me my tissue would rip and there would be more blood. And even though I could feel no pain, I could feel the pressure of the stitching thread pulling through my tissue each time. I had the feeling or premonition, what have you, that my doctor was a little nervous herself.
I made sure to keep myself as still as I could. The doctor and my husband thought I had passed out. They called out to me. I responded saying I’m alright; I am just concentrating on the LORD to bring me through. After two and a half long hours she finally succeeded in stitching me up completely.
Jesus Answers Prayer and Sends His Angels, Yes Angels are Real
I remember distinctly hearing my husband saying… “hey doc, put in a few extra stitches for me.” After she was done, she looked at me and said it looked like a bomb had exploded down there.
She proceeded to clean the area after finishing the stitching. Then she looked at me again, this time proudly saying that I was a trooper and immediately asked me sarcastically: “Are you going to have another one?” Well, I thought she was being sarcastic. But my husband said she was serious; Actually giving me a message not to have another one after all I had just been through.
I looked at her and gave her a smirk saying no, while still appreciating her humor. After I was all stitched and cleaned up, the nurse put my baby into my arms again. I cannot tell you the elation that had come over me. I felt like I was the participant in a miracle. And I was. Giving birth is always a miracle.
I Am Staying… I Will Not Leave My Wife Here Alone
My husband and I asked for them to bring a cot for him to sleep on. He was determined not to leave my side, of which I was very grateful for. He was a great source of strength and support throughout the entire process; Sitting right beside me and holding my hand the whole time. The next day they got me out of bed and into the shower. My legs were so weak and wobbly. I was so sore, it hurt to walk. It had even hurt to sit up straight. My insides felt like they were going to fall out.
They had given me some ointment to use and tucks medicated pads to put in my underwear. They also ordered an egg crate for me to sit on to ease the pain. I was instructed to not lift anything heavier than the baby and to get much rest.
My Mom came up to visit me before I left the hospital. She had this big smile on her face, and I was so happy to see her. It made me feel good that she traveled all the way there to be with me. My doctor had come to see me a few times before I left the hospital but the last time she came, it was more of a personal visit.
She had bought me a Sterling Silver baby spoon from the Hospital Gift Shop for my baby. She repeated what she said in the delivery room that I was a trooper and she was very proud of me. I thanked her with a hug, very grateful that she did not give up on me, then she said her goodbyes and left the room. So, I can truly say that my Daughter was born with a Silver Spoon.
Real Life Encounters With Guardian Angels
While I was being discharged, I wanted to thank the nurse that had helped me so much. I stopped at the nurses station and asked for the nurse who helped me. I gave them her name and described what she looked like. They told me they don’t have anyone who works there by that name or who fits that description. My husband and I looked at each other and immediately thought that was an Angel. He knew and I knew, that was our confirmation that angels are real.
I already knew for a fact that angels truly exist and my personal experience with an angel was not the first time I had witnessed and talked with one. When we got outside I said to my husband: “She was my angel.” He looked at me and agreed, Yes she indeed was an angel. GOD had sent her specifically for me. I know that I was not crazy or delusional because my husband saw her and spoke with her just as I had. So Yes!!! Angels are REAL!!! I am shouting out loud proclaiming that ANGELS ARE REAL!!!
My Personal Experience With an Angel Ensures That Angels Are Real
I know without a doubt that angels are real… They are messengers of the LORD. I am a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. He is my LORD and Savior. It was an angel who told Mary that she will conceive a child from the LORD GOD Almighty, and she is to name him Jesus.
An angel came to Joseph and told him not to leave her, that she is a virgin and the LORD will give her a child. It was an angel who came to me on my wedding day at my Wedding Reception, whom just a handful of us had seen. I know angels are real because it was GOD’s heavenly angels who saved our lives from a horrendous accident involving a Mack truck not even a year after my baby was born.
So, no one can convince me otherwise that GOD’s angels are real. There were two angels that came to Lot’s house to warn him to leave with his family from Sodom and Gomora. It was an angel who rolled away the stone from the tomb that Jesus was in after they crucified him. All those times in your life that you were protected and saved from this, that or the other. Those were not just random coincidences.
They were angels watching over you and protecting you. God sends his angels in charge to protect us and work things out for our good for those who love the LORD. Things don’t just happen. There are no coincidences. GOD is always in control. Nothing happens without His permission. And His Angels are Real.

My Conclusion, That Angels Are Real…
Looking back now, my personal experience with an angel strengthened my faith in GOD more than words can fully express. It wasn’t until months later after the birth of my sweet beautiful baby girl that my husband told me the details of my child-birthing experience from his point of view. Although I was there and conscious the whole time, he could see things that were happening that I could not see. So he filled me in on what had taken place from his perspective. Angels are real because they were there with me working behind the scenes – even through my doctor. Afterwards, I had the urge to go and visit my doctor. What he shared made me so emotional.
I had to see her and personally thank her for all she had done. My baby girl is all grown up now and even older now than I was when I gave birth to her. Through every season of my life, one truth has remained certain in my heart: GOD is real. His love is real. And His angels are real. Many people may question real life encounters with guardian angels, but after what happened to me, I know that GOD sends His angels to help His people.
